Spanish container glass producer Vidrala posted a 21% rise in 2004 net attributable profit on 22 February 2005, to EUR 21.6 million (USD 28.6 million), thanks to strong growth in the Portuguese market. Core earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were up 26% on the same period of 2003, at EUR 49.0 million, the firm said in a statement. Turnover was up nearly 30% year-on-year to EUR 190 million. “The glass container factories in Portugal have had 3.1% growth in tonnes sold, with a very significant growth (8.7%) in the Portuguese market,” Vidrala said in a statement. Vidrala said it would pay a gross dividend of EUR 0.33 per share on 24 February 2005 and expected the later approval of a EUR 0.10 complimentary dividend.
