Spanish glassmaker, Saint-Gobain Cristaleria has posted a 5.1% decrease in nine-month profits. The figure of _ 64 million compares to _ 67.4 million in the first nine months of 1999. The Saint-Gobain group company attributed the decrease to losses at its Mexican unit Vetrotex America, which Cristaleria said experienced operational problems in its developmental stages. Sales totalled _ 1.1 billion, up 23% from the _ 888 million reported for the same period last year. Cristaleria attributed the increase in sales to new units in Spain, Portugal, Colombia and Mexico.
