Mexican glassmaker Grupo Vitro said it closed a deal to buy US-based Harding Glass from industrial services company SunSource, Inc. The acquisition, originally announced on January 10, will be carried out through Vitro“s Memphis-based subsidiary, VVP America, Inc. The company did not disclose the cost of the deal. Vitro officials estimate the acquisition will boost sales of flat glass products by 10% and total sales by 5%. Harding has annual sales of US$ 118 million. VVP America makes thick glass tabletops and operates more than 120 manufacturing, distribution, retail and contract glazing units in the US, mainly in the south and west. Vitro, based in the northern industrial city of Monterrey, operates more than 100 plants and distribution centres in eight countries.
