PGW Opens New Production Unit with Cugher Glass

Pittsburgh Glassworks (PGW) finishes has started up a new production unit in Sroda Slaska for the production of high-tech windshields, choosing Cugher Glass as its partner for the development of automatic screen printing lines

In this period of market reorganization, during which many companies are reducing investments, Pittsburgh Glassworks (PGW) has just finished the construction and has started up a new production unit in Sroda Slaska (Polonia), for the production of high-tech windshields, choosing Cugher Glass as its partner for the development of automatic screen printing lines. Cugher Glass has therefore managed the installation of the screen printing lines, based on an evolution of its Series G screen printers, equipped with an innovative robotic system for ‘Edge to Edge’ printing, without affecting printing cycle time and automatically aligning the printing screen. The lines have been equipped with a computerized system with automatic centering of the glass along 8 axes, and simplified management system of the screens, so as to have item changeover in just a few minutes. The lines use Cugher Glass proprietary technology, developed specifically for the auto glass sector, to be used for windshields, backlites or sidelites).

The lines have been updated with the use of pressurized accumulators, ink drying furnaces, conveyors, lifters and centering stations for the loading of bending furnaces. Despite the considerable complexity of the plant, particular attention has been paid to the ergonomics and ease of use for all levels of operators, with supervision software created specifically by Cugher, which enables to intervene on all parameters of the line, and program change of format with just one click, sending the production parameters of the new glass types and sizes to all machines of the line. Thanks to the satisfaction of PGW with regards to the quality of the plant and the punctuality in delivery, Cugher Glass will also be involved in the realization of new facilities for PGW in the US too, which are scheduled to be ready in the next few months.
