BNP Paribas Fortis is the largest international bank in Belgium. The new headquarters in Brussels with more than 100,000 square meters of office space was designed as a passive house in a collaboration between Baumschlager Eberle Architects, Styfhals Architects, Jasper-Eyers Architects and the Belgian façade builder Eiffage, which relies on renewable energies and sustainable materials.
This includes numerous Cradle to Cradle certified glazings from AGC Glass Europe. The fire-resistant glass “Pyrobel Vision Line 54” has a particularly high level of transparency and structures the office space without any disruptive vertical bars. In the event of a fire, it reliably protects against heat, smoke and fire for up to 120 minutes (EI120).
In the façade, “Stopray Ultra-60 on Clearvision” ensures high daylight transmission, effective sun protection, thermal insulation and colour neutrality. In the interior, “Lacobel” and “Matelac” design glazing create hygienic and aesthetic surfaces. “Stratophone” soundproof glass ensures acoustic comfort in the offices.
The building received the BREEAM “Excellent” environmental certificate for the materials used, the use of renewable energies and good environmental management.
