AGC is very proud that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, supports the company’s VOLTA furnace design project, carried out jointly with Saint-Gobain. AGC is happy to see its efforts noticed by the EU institutions and that the European Commission stands ready to extend financial support.
Ursula von der Leyen also called electrification and decarbonisation projects like VOLTA “vital to make the European flat glass industry competitive, also in the clean economy of tomorrow.”
Addressing the Green Deal Summit 2023 in Prague (Czech Republic) about the Clean Transition Dialogue with industries she mentioned the glass production as an example. Not only as an example of “a national pride of Czechia” saying that “Europe cherishes these great national industrial treasures” but mentioned and praised AGC’s VOLTA project as the glass industry investing in cleaner glass production. She also stated that the European Commission is “supporting the electrification of existing flat glass furnaces so that they can cut emissions by 75 percent.”
AGC is determined and energized to pursue its Carbon Roadmap for a better world.
