LISEC focus on processing machines: Takes over Schraml Glastechnik Gmbh (Upper Austria)

LiSEC, the world market leader for plants and software for the processing of flat glass, has taken over one hundred percent of Schraml Glastechnik GmbH domiciled in Großraming, Austria. The contract was concluded on September 8th. The parties agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.

Schraml: best in flat glass processing
Schraml Glastechnik GmbH was established in 1963 as a glazier’s workshop. Horst Schraml, general manager of Schraml Glastechnik GmbH, took over his father’s company 22 years ago. The company Schraml is known and recognized for its knowhow in terms of the processing of flat glass. The company possesses comprehensive expertise in particular in the field of drilling and milling. Several hundred plants made by Schraml are installed worldwide. That is, a premium brand in a specialist niche.
Othmar Sailer, CEO of the LiSEC Group, about the strategy of the acquisition: “Thanks to the integration of the Schraml Glastechnik GmbH into the LiSEC Group, we are massively gaining knowhow in terms of processing. This will spur the recently established business unit “Glass Processing“. Horst Schraml will not only remain the general manager of this company, he will also be head of the business unit glass processing. He is the right partner for us:  he is familiar with the customers’ needs, has successfully developed and sold highly specialized plants and he is well connected.“ Horst Schraml about his motives for the contract with LiSEC: “I am happy that the cooperation with LiSEC has come about in this form. Due to industry 4.0 a complete network of the machinery was unavoidable. Moreover the production part ‘processing’ hasn’t been in the center of attention of flat glass processors so far. But in the future it will play an important role because of economic reasons. Another reason is that the globalization requires a larger sales structure which is only economic with a wider product range.”
The company will keep its name, however with the suffix “Member of the LiSEC Group.“ The logo and the overall appearance of the company will be adapted to the LiSEC corporate design guidelines. The company will already present itself in its new look at the upcoming glasstec trade fair in Düsseldorf.
Sailer: “We will not only keep the name Schraml which is well known in the market but we will also continue the product names topDRILL and topCLEAR. The acquisition by LiSEC won’t change a thing in terms of the headcount: all the employees of the Schraml Glastechnik GmbH are taken over and we will also keep up the location in Upper Austria.“
LiSEC: Business Unit Structure
Since the middle of 2015, LiSEC has introduced a business unit structure. All core competencies required to expand a product segment quickly and close to the market are now bundled in one business unit. Othmar Sailer, CEO of the LiSEC Group: “With the structure of the business units, we will be able to act much faster than in the past. The speed of development and time to market are more important than ever before“. Currently, LiSEC consists of the following business units: logistics, cutting, insulating glass production, glass processing, tempering, laminating, software, pre-owned machines, the Glass Forum (own processing of flat glass) as well as the spacer production in Shanghai for the Chinese market.
