AGP-Europe launches lightweight range of standard wine bottles

Ardagh Glass Packaging-Europe (AGP-Europe), an operating business of Ardagh Group, announced the launch of a new lightweight range of standard wine bottles produced in Germany for the European market.

The 750 millilitre Bordeaux and Schlegel bottles are produced with a significant weight reduction – from 410 to 360 grams – using a high recycled glass cullet level of up to 80 percent (varies by colour), delivering a 12 percent reduction in carbon emissions per bottle.

Both Bordeaux and Schlegel 750 millilitre bottles are produced with a screw cap finish (BVS) and the Bordeaux range is also available with a cork mouth finish. Both bottle styles are available in flint, antique green and various standard green colours, with the addition of a royal blue option for the Schlegel range.

The new range is produced at AGP in Germersheim, Germany, adding new lightweight bottles to the standard European range, which already includes a lightweight 345 gram wine bottle produced in the UK.

Stuart Santon, Chief Commercial Officer, AGP-Europe said, “These new lightweight wine bottles in a range of colours and finishes offer our customers versatility and choice while reducing the carbon footprint of their glass packaging.”
