Torsten Richter nominated Managing Director of Glasofenbau Leipzig

Torsten Richter has been named Managing Director of Glasofenbau Leipzig GmbH, one of the SKS companies.

With more than 20 years of experience in the glass industry and glass technologies, Richter brings a wealth of expertise to the role. He studied glass technology at the Glass Technical School in Zwiesel, Germany, and has held various leadership roles in international glass production projects. This has provided him with extensive experience in project management of international projects.

Reflecting on his long-standing relationship with Glasofenbau Leipzig, Richter said, “I have known Glasofenbau Leipzig for over 15 years, admiring its reputation for building world-class glass-melting furnaces across numerous international projects. With my experience managing global glass production operations, I am honoured to step into this leadership role and contribute to the continued success of such a respected company.”

He further expressed his enthusiasm for the future: “I am also extremely excited by the opportunities here. I want the company’s current successes to continue and strengthen while incorporating new experiences and technologies moving forward. We’ll certainly be exploring innovations in refractory construction and repair, seeking to minimise repair times. The creation of a glass melting furnace, from planning and construction to commissioning, is always fascinating.”

Richter’s career includes significant international project management experience, having overseen large-scale glass fibre production projects in Russia, the USA, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Latvia, among others. His background in operations management, product development, and cost optimisation equips him to lead Glasofenbau Leipzig’s highly qualified, motivated and experienced team toward continued success.

Expansion is a key focus for Richter. He aims to grow not only the company’s employee base but also its customer base, customer satisfaction, capacity utilisation and portfolio of products and services.

Richter notes that the challenge of achieving these goals is one he eagerly anticipates: “Realising these goals will be a great challenge and a great pleasure.”
