Allied Glass develops luxury bottle to honour work of Malt Master

The Balvenie’s David Stewart is the longest serving Malt Master the whisky industry has ever known.  As he enters the twilight of his career, it is important to David that he passes on his knowledge so others can follow in his footsteps.

To this end, David has created The D.C.S Compendium, an unconventional handover in both written and liquid form that will see twenty-five rare and vintage casks released over the next five years.
To celebrate this rich history, David’s idea for the First Chapter was to collect casks from five different decades that illustrate the distillery character and how the quintessential characteristics of The Balvenie develop over time.
The Balvenie D.C.S Compendium is presented in the most extraordinary pack, one which expounds the superlative and prestigious nature of the spirit whilst advancing the iconic Balvenie branding. The beautiful bottles, which are secured inside, stay true to the existing Balvenie shape but are given luxury connotations by being larger, heavier in weight and with a thicker base.
Of the most exacting visual standards, each bottle is manufactured in stunning extra white premium flint glass.  Made of the highest quality raw materials, extra white flint glass is a remarkable material characterised by its sparkle and exceptional brightness.  The bottles are then polished to remove the base stipples and seams and to create a glass surface of the most exceptional sheen and lustre, which ensures that the natural colour variants of the collection are displayed in their truest form and each remarkable whisky is the hero.
The outstanding quality of The Balvenie D.C.S pack has recently been recognised by both the International Spirits Challenge who awarded it the Design and Packaging New Product Range trophy and the Luxury Packaging Awards 2016 panel of judges, who have shortlisted it in the highly sort after Special Edition category.
