More China handset vendors will utilize the technology in mid-range and high-end units during the year and will be looking for competitive pricing solutions to keep down market pricing.
Huawei and Oppo in particular plan to expand the amount of devices released with in-cell technology in 2015 and aim to receive the technology at roughly USD 18-20 per 5-inch unit.
Shipments of in-cell technology for use in China vendors’ smartphones in 2015 are expected to increase 30-35% on year and international customers are also expected to pursue the technology more, the sources said.
Additionally, JDI is also expected to lower pricing for its in-cell touch products in 2015 in a bid to compete with China makers, according to sources.
