Guardian “Record Products” Award for new SunGuard

Guardian’s SunGuard SNX 51/23, the first commercial low-E glass product with visible light transmission above 50% and a solar heat gain coefficient below 0.25, has received an Architectural Record Products Award.

Guardian Industries Corp. has won an Architectural Record Products Award for Guardian SunGuard® SNX 51/23, the first commercial low-E glass product with visible light transmission above 50% and a solar heat gain coefficient below 0.25.
Architectural Record, a McGraw-Hill Construction publication, presented SunGuard SNX 51/23 with an Editors’ Choice award within the Facades category. A panel of six judges from leading architectural firms chose the winners from among 500 submissions.
“We are honored that Architectural Record’s judges recognized SunGuard SNX 51/23,” says Rosie Hunter, Guardian Commercial Segment Product Manager. “This is a great testament that Guardian is delivering the products architects need to produce beautiful, energy-efficient buildings.”
A new addition to the Guardian SunGuard portfolio, SunGuard SNX 51/23 on clear float glass also offers low reflectivity and a neutral blue appearance compared to other triple silver low-E coatings, giving architects and designers a brand new appearance option to reduce energy costs.
“The low solar heat gain coefficient helped us to reach high energy efficiency targets and achieve LEED qualifications without a reduction in desired glazing quantities,” says Daniel J. Scheaffer, AIA, LEED BD+C, senior associate architect at LS3P, which designed one of the first buildings to feature SNX 51/23, the Coastal Carolina University Science Annex. “SNX 51/23 on clear float glass also allowed us to stay within budget, as the product performs as well as comparable glazing with dark or reflective tints, while also providing the visible light transmission the design demanded.”
SunGuard SNX 51/23 is available on clear, UltraWhite™ low-iron, gray, CrystalGray®, green and TwilightGreen® float glass substrates. The Guardian SunGuard product line for commercial applications offers excellent solar control and a wide variety of colors and performance levels. SunGuard products provide innovative, leading solutions for appearance, economics and energy efficiency, and are available through an international network of independent Guardian Select® Fabricators.
