dmg Events Takes Over Gulf Glas and GulfSol Exhibitions

dmg Events purchased both exhibitions for an undisclosed sum, which will be added to the company’s Middle East & Asia portfolio.

Two Middle East-based exhibitions have been acquired by dmg Events, the wholly owned subsidiary of the Daily Mail and General Trust, as it continues rapid expansion.
The company purchased Gulf Glass and GulfSol exhibitions from Bowhead Media Ltd for an undisclosed sum; they will be added to dmg events’ Middle East & Asia portfolio headed by Simon Mellor, dmg events president of Middle East operations.
Mellor’s division has seen huge growth as it has expanded from eight to 30 exhibitions across the region, as well as North Africa and India.
Bowhead Media Ltd has operated the biennial Gulf Glass exhibition in the Middle East for seven years and in 2013 added the GulfSol exhibition, addressing the growing solar power and products market in the Middle East.
The acquisition gives dmg events a foothold in the glass and solar markets and the exhibitions will become complementary sister events to the leading international building and construction event The Big 5 in Dubai.
Mellor said: “Glass and Solar are fast-growing specialist markets in the Middle East and we feel that with the knowledge, expertise and network of our Big 5 series of events, we can take the shows to the next level, providing a truly international forum to address the issues and support the growth of these industries in the coming years.
“These exhibitions join a series of new and planned events that will explore vertical aspects of our generic construction event, The Big 5, offering more targeted industry specific events that provide innovation, knowledge and insight into specific sectors of the Middle East market.”
