Pilkington K Glass™ OW achieves triple glazing performance in a double-glazing unit

Thanks to its flexibility and versatility, Pilkington K Glass™ OW can be used in many applications, providing better light transmission, allowing in more free heat from the sun and thus reducing energy usage and saving money on heating bills.

The NSG Group has unveiled a new concept for achieving triple glazing performance in a double-glazing unit, unique to the Pilkington brand. It has been specially designed for applications requiring an optimzied Ug value. By using Pilkington K Glass™ OW on Surface 4 of an IGU, with another low-E glass on surface 2 such as the latest Pilkington Optitherm™ S1 Plus, it is possible to achieve Ug values as low as 0.9 W/m²K. Put simply, triple performance with only two panes of glass.
Thanks to its flexibility and versatility, Pilkington K Glass™ OW can be used in many applications, where either WERs or Ug values are a consideration, and is usually chosen for its exceptional clarity as well as its environmental performance. As an advanced form of the original Pilkington K Glass™, it provides better light transmission and allows in more free heat from the sun to enable householders to reduce energy usage and save money on heating bills.
NSG Group, the manufacturer of Pilkington glass in the UK, manufactures a wide range of float, coated, rolled, laminated and toughened glass products as well as its own range of high-performance insulating glass units. Glass is distributed direct to customers, either as stock or as bespoke processed products to meet their needs, either direct from St Helens or through its network of branches countrywide. The company is highly focused on quality and service, continually improving to deliver the benefits of the NSG Group’s technical ability and innovation to the end user.
