IRIS gains Environmental Management Systems compliance

IRIS Inspection Machines’ glass container inspection equipment production unit at Venissieux, on the outskirts of Lyon, France, has gained ISO 14001 certification, the International Standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

IRIS Inspection Machines has gained certification to ISO 14001, the International Standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS), for its glass container inspection equipment production unit at Venissieux, on the outskirts of Lyon, France.
With an estimated 223,000 organizations certified in 159 countries worldwide, ISO 14001 is the principal management system standard that specifies the requirements for the formulation and maintenance of an EMS.
There are three fundamental commitments required in an environmental policy that meets the requirements of ISO 14001. These are:
1.    prevention of pollution;
2.    compliance with legislation; and
3.    continual improvement of the EMS.
These commitments help drive the improvements in overall environmental performance.
ISO 14001 focuses on controlling environmental aspects or the way that a company’s activities, products and services interact with the environment, including emissions to air, land and water.
In an increasingly environmentally-conscious society, Jean-Luc Logel, Managing Director is pleased that IRIS Inspection Machines has been successful in making this important commitment to sustainability. “As a supplier to the glass industry, environmental responsibility is one crucial aspect of our overall sustainability programme,” he confirmed. “IRIS Inspection Machines is committed to environmental leadership in all of our business activities from operations to production. This certification of our manufacturing process is a first important step in this direction.”
A subsidiary of the Wisetec Group, IRIS Inspection Machines was established to provide turnkey inspection solutions for mass-produced glass containers of any shape or colour, including wine, beer, liquor and Champagne bottles, pharmaceuticals and food containers.
