China has filed a complaint regarding photovoltaic solar subsidies in Italy and Greece, just a short while after Beijing launched anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations into solar imports from the EU.
China has filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization (WTO) against photovoltaic solar subsidies in Italy and Greece, which, it believes, are in breach of international agreements.
This complaint comes just a short while after Beijing launched anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations into solar imports from the EU.
According to the WTO statement, China’s complaint is focused on incentives provided by Italy and Greece, both of which offer higher electricity prices to renewable energy producers that use main components of installations produced within the European Union or the European Economic Area.
China, the world’s largest producer of solar power products, believes the subsidies damages its own manufacturers and are in breach of WTO rules.
In September, the European Union launched an investigation into Chinese companies who were thought to be dumping solar panels in Europe.
