In a letter sent to clients, Garret Henson, Vice-President of sales for Viracon, announced a price increase of “approximately 9%” on all quote requests received on or after August. “All the major material suppliers to our industry announced price increases of 7-15% effective next month,” Henson said. “While we work hard to achieve continuous productivity improvements at Viracon, an increase of this magnitude cannot be fully absorbed.” In response to these higher material costs, Viracon will increase prices for all quote requests received on or after August 1, 2012. All outstanding quotations prior to this date will be honored for the period stated in the terms of each specific quotation. The price increase announced here does not affect the company’s current energy surcharge structure, which will continue to be addressed quarterly.
