Aguila Auto Glass (Universal Glass Co. Inc.), a local manufacturer that for 60 years has been instrumental in providing automakers and even private car owners in the Philippines with one of the most crucial vehicle components: automotive glass, is celebrating its 60th anniversary.
“With a proud heritage and 60 years of experience, Aguila Auto Glass has become a trusted leader in the local automotive glass market,” announced Pia Borromeo, Aguila Auto Glass marketing manager.
Aguila Auto Glass was founded in 1952 by lawyer Lauro Aguila and his wife, Maria Gutierrez, in Manila, and, right from the very beginning, the company has partnered with international glass leaders such as PPG, Pilkington and Mikado to upgrade its manufacturing capability and improve the quality of its products.
Today, Aguila Auto Glass is the foremost source of automotive safety glass in the Philippines supplying the most extensive range of glass-related items, including windshields, backglass, doorglass, tempered glass, safety laminated glass, multilayered glass sealants, acrylic plastic, rubber, channels and mirrors for various automotive replacement applications.
The company supplies more than 3,000 types of automotive glass for both old- and late-model of various Japanese, Korean, American, European, and Chinese brands including original and replacement windshields for an extensive range of imported luxury models from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.
Aguila Auto Glass also specializes in bus and truck windshields in varying sizes as well as made-to-order glass for custom and speciality vehicles such as the Philippine utility vehicle e-Jeep and rare car restoration projects.
The company now has over 20 branches in Angeles, Baguio, Cabanatuan, Cavite, Dagupan, La Union, Lipa, Makati, Manila, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Naga, Parañaque, Pasig, Quezon City, San Fernando and Valenzuela on the largest island of the Philippines, Luzon.
In celebration of its 60th anniversary, and also to give back to the community it serves, Aguila Auto Glass brought together 200 of its employees and planted 250 young narra trees on one hectare of land inside the La Mesa Eco Park in Quezon City.
“We will protect a hectare of forest for three years to remind us that all our hard work will be in vain if our children will not have a healthy world to live in. Today is indeed special as we celebrate our togetherness and plant seeds for our future,” Borromeo said.
