A report from Apple says that it is creating around 304,000 jobs in the US, specifically stating the inclusion of Texas workers who manufacture iOS processors, Fedex employees, UPS workers and New York and Kentucky’s Corning employees who manufacture most of the iPhone’s glass. This has led to speculation about the use of Corning’s Gorilla Glass technology.
Speculations has been growing for some months now that the soon to be released iPhone 5 will use Corning’s Gorilla Glass technology, and, right now, this seems to be coming true. Apple has, in fact, somehow given a strong clue that the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3 may possibly have the Gorilla Glass, the most resistant technology for smartphone screens.
The information regarding the Corning Gorilla Glass for the iPhone 5 is said to come from a report of Apple about its job creation, which says that Apple is creating around 304,000 jobs in the US, specifically stating the inclusion of Texas workers who manufacture iOS processors, Fedex employees, UPS workers and New York and Kentucky’s Corning employees who manufacture most of the iPhone’s glass.
This is not the first time that Corning and Apple have collaborated on an iPhone. In fact, the iPhone 4 was produced in 2010 with a form of Corning Gorilla Glass, but did not become a part of the iPhone 4S maybe due to its high cost.
Since then, however, the cost of Gorilla Glass has lowered and Apple may make it a part of the iPhone 5. Moreover, with the reported high cost of the iPhone 5 there is a greater chance for Apple to utilize the Gorilla Glass on its upcoming phone.
