Mid Devon Glass is expanding its manufacturing methods by introducing in-house glass processing capabilities, thanks to a series of equipment from The Glass Machinery Company. The new machinery includes a Zafferani Glas Flat 9 FPE edger, a Zafferani Drum centrifugal system, and a horizontal double-headed drill from Meccanica Cambi.
Mid Devon Glass, located in south-west UK, has, as per a contract worth in excess of GBP 60,000, been supplied with a range of products from The Glass Machinery Company, to diversify its product range and help improve efficiency and output. The Tiverton-based company has expanded manufacturing methods considerably by introducing in-house glass processing capabilities at the company’s manufacturing facilities.
Machinery supplied includes a Zafferani Glas Flat 9 FPE edger, which offers electronic straight-line edging using nine cup wheels for the production of flat edges, along with a Zafferani Drum centrifugal system.
The new equipment also includes a horizontal double-headed drill from Meccanica Cambi, which, along with the Zafferani machinery, will enable Mid Devon Glass to now produce items that were previously outsourced, and enable faster turnarounds of in-house manufacturing procedures, therefore improving customer services generally.
Mid Devon Glass was established just over 20 years ago supplying sealed units to both the commercial and domestic sector in and around the South West region. Since installation the fully automated machinery, which was installed without disruption to production with on-site training also completed quickly and efficiently, has greatly improved on-site efficiency.
