A solar glass workshop will be held Thursday, 23 June 2011 at the Marriott Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland. Sponsored by ASTM Committee E44 on Solar, Geothermal, and Other Alternative Energy Sources and the Glass Association of North America, the workshop will take place in conjunction with the June standards development meetings of the committee. This one day event will showcase presentations from the glass and glazing industry as well as the solar industry. Possible topics which may be covered by the workshop include discussions on evolving photovoltaic and solar technologies and projects, the effects of solar glass integration on building codes, current standards under development for solar glass testing methods, photovoltaic module life and performance expectations, building integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), thin film technologies (CdTe, CIGS, other), and concentrated solar power (CSP) and concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) technologies. Anyone in the solar, glass and glazing, and solar glass industries is welcome to attend. Researchers, scientists and professionals from leading manufacturers and organizations, including architects, engineers, energy managers, urban planner and industry experts are invited to attend. These sessions will provide a base to interact with both the industry leaders and product developers, representatives from governmental and non-governmental institutions, developers and technicians from across the sector. Online registration is already open for the workshop and closes 15 June 2011. There is no fee to attend the workshop.
