The Glass Packaging Institute (GPI) awarded Vitro Packaging, a subsidiary of Vitro in the United States, four of ten 2010 Clear Choice Awards that was announced through its virtual award ceremony on its webpage at http://www.gpi.org. This year“s ceremony recognized 12 consumer product goods companies for their achievements in expanding the frontiers of glass packaging design. The 2010 Vitro Packaging“s winning products – in the Carbonated Beverage, Organic Food or Beverage, Distilled Spirits and Cosmetics/Fragrances categories – were distinguished based on their innovation in container form and product category, package design (including container, label, and closure), and shelf impact by a distinguished panel of judges. To be awarded four out of ten awards strengthens our commitment to move forward, as this is a very clear indicator that our products and services are appreciated by the US Industry and our clients, stated John T. Shaddox, President of Vitro Packaging. He added that with these awards the value of glass is confirmed as the best option to package and develop a Premium brand image so much sought by today“s consumer. According to Andrs Cumming, Marketing & New Products director Vitro Packaging, the company has amassed a total of 23 Clear Choice Awards for glass packaging over the past five years. We are proud of being the most recognized glass manufacturer by GPI for the Clear Choice Awards in recent years; this recognition speaks a lot about our values, creativity, innovation, team work, consumer focus and sense of social responsibility, he said. Horacio Trujillo, marketing manager for Vitro Packaging, referred to the relevance of receiving the awards. One of the most significant rewards for a company is the recognition by the glass industry that ratifies our presence as one of the truly innovative leaders in the glass container industry in the United States of America, he argues. Since 1989, the Clear Choice Awards has honoured consumer product goods (CPG) manufacturers who expand the frontiers of glass packaging design by using glass containers in innovative ways. Sponsored by the Glass Packaging Institute, this is the only Awards programme that recognizes the contribution glass packaging makes to the image and success of everyday products. From sparkling water to salsa, baby food to bottled fruit juices, beer to flavoured rums, pasta sauce to pickles, the Clear Choice Awards are presented to products that triumph in glass. The Glass Packaging Institute is the trade association representing the North American glass container industry. Through GPI, the glass container manufacturers speak with one voice to advocate industry standards, promote sound environmental and recycling policies, and educate packaging professionals.
