G-Tech Optoelectronics (GTOC) and TPK Touch Solutions will reportedly suspend the establishment of a joint venture for reinforced glass production inside TPK“s factory in south-eastern China. The reason for this hold-up, according to the two companies is that ITO glass-based projected capacitive touch panel maker TPK will use the planned site to set up additional capacity for touch panels to meet increasing demand. New capacity at the 3G plant is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter, and, according to TPK, it is now in talks with optical glass processing services provider GTOC to secure enough supply of enforced glass substrates. TPK expects its projected capacitive touch panel capacity to reach a total of 13 million 3.5-inch equivalent panels from the current five million units thanks to the new 3G line. GTOC“s plan to establish a subsidiary for making reinforced glass at Foxconn“s production base in Shenzhen will remain unchanged, and is expected to start production as scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2010, the sources added.G-Tech Optoelectronics (GTOC) and TPK Touch Solutions will reportedly suspend the establishment of a joint venture for reinforced glass production inside TPK“s factory in south-eastern China.
