The GPD Call for Papers is on and running. The deadline for abstract submissions is 20 September 2010 and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Jorma Vitkala issues his own personal call: GPD is a place where glass specialists meet, discuss, network and shape the future of the industry. It is a summit for visionaries created by visionaries, he says. It is clear that GPD welcomes all its old contributors and presenters as warmly as ever before but there is always room also for newcomers, Vitkala says. The way in which the programme is structured leaves open opportunities for both technology innovators, processing specialists with their hands-on money-making improvements and especially the new solutions provided for by solar products and technologies,” Vitkala outlines. “The intensive and interactive 4-8 hour workshops before the actual Conference address single subjects in a comprehensive and practical format. The GPD 2011 Expo features presentation booths that highlight the special competencies of exhibitors throughout the Conference days. No contributions should be thought of being too small or modest when it comes to meeting the energy-efficiency challenge, Vitkala says. It is good to keep in mind the competence of the complete chain of glass solutions sourcing, many streams in its various sectors contribute to the building of as powerful flood as a whole. All those considering whether their special competence might be valuable enough should really take it to the GPD and put it through the acid test of the world“s leading specialists, Vitkala says. GPD 2011 offers a range of breakthrough solutions in combination with emerging new technologies yet to be tested. The Desertec Initiative, with solar power from Africa through an advanced distribution grid, is a key example of the first category. The many specialist niches of technology and processing sessions not to mention the depth of the workshops with one subject being dealt with to the full represent the second category. Proposals for workshop topics have an earlier deadline than Conference presentations, which is 20 August 2010. Experienced professionals realize the significance of the big and small contributions in the interaction that makes up the combined competence of the industry, Vitkala says. That is why we are very open in our Call for Papers. Submissions by 20 September will receive notification of acceptance by 20 October 2010. Submissions later than that will receive the same quality attention. A presentation at the GPD is the surest way in which to invite participating specialists to establish the close contact for informal networking that the Conference is so highly appreciated for.
