The Supervisory Board of Schott AG has appointed Stephan Schaller (52) to the role of vice chairman of the Board of Management where he will be responsible for the solar, pharmaceutical systems, architecture and purchasing areas. He will start in his new role with effect as of 1 May 2010, at the initiative of Prof. Udo Ungeheuer. Prof. Udo Ungeheuer (chairman), Dr. Jrgen Dahmer, Dr. Hans-Joachim Konz and Klaus Rbenthaler will all continue to serve as members of the Board. Schaller completed his mechanical engineering studies and received his engineering degree at the RWTH Aachen. He held various management positions with BMW in Germany and South Africa between 1983 and 1999 and subsequently took over responsibility for the technology division at Linde AG, where he was appointed a member of the management team for the area of refrigeration technology in 2000. In 2004, he became a board member of Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge and served as speaker from 2007 until January 2010. On serving as a board member of Schott, Schaller will be resigning from the Supervisory Board of Schott AG, where he has been a member since 1 January 2008. He will be succeeded by Prof. Gnther Schuh, Professor of Production Systems at the RWTH Aachen.
