Australian soda ash manufacturer Penrice Soda Holdings Ltd. announced on 8 October 2009 that it has signed an extended and expanded soda ash and limestone supply contract with one of its biggest customers, Amcor Ltd., a division of Amcor Packaging Pty. Ltd. According to Penrice, which is the major supplier of soda ash to Australia“s glassmaking industry, the contract with Amcor Glass extends and expands for two years an existing contract, which is now due to expire at the end of 2014. As per an existing contract, Penrice already supplies soda ash to Amcor“s wine bottle plant in one of South Australia“s key wine growing regions at Gawler, near the Barossa Valley. The newly expanded contract states that Penrice will also supply limestone from Angaston, in the Barossa Valley. The value of the contract, described by Penrice as a “multi-million dollar” deal, was not disclosed.
