A northeast Tennessee glassmaker for appliances recently said that it intends to expand its production facilities and says employment could double. Contour Industries plant manager David Tomlinson announced that the company intends to build a new 58,000-sq.ft. plant on its property in Hawkins County, scheduled to begin later in 2009, which will result in the eventual hiring of between 50 and 100 workers, in addition to the present 100 employees. The company, which produces refrigerator shelves, oven doors, washer lids, dryer fronts and stove control panels, said sales for 2009 has increased 33%.
