French container glass manufacturer SDG, formerly Saint-Gobain Desjonqueres, plans to invest EUR 89 million over the next five years in equipment used in the production of glasses targeted at the cosmetic and fragrance packaging sectors. Some EUR 11 million will be allocated by the end of 2010. At the same time, the group will reorganise its unit in Mers-les-Bains, northern France, by cutting 57 of its 1,100 staff at the site, in order to adapt to the 40% fall in orders over the past year.
