Owens Corning announced on 28 May 2009 that it has installed North America“s largest SolarWall system of 2008 at its Toronto area insulation manufacturing facility. SolarWall technology uses the sun“s energy to heat ventilation air for commercial and industrial buildings, thus reducing traditional heating fuel expenses and CO2 emissions, without the need for maintenance, lasting more than 30 years. SolarWall technology, which has been used on thousands of projects to date in 30 countries, was invented by Conserval Engineering. The 11,000-ft. system at Owens Corning“s facility is a turnkey energy solution for Owens Corning that targets one of the most problematic energy requirements in the facility – ventilation heating, estimated to produce over 8,000 million BTUs (2350 MWh) of thermal energy per year.
