PPG Industries will be laying off 110 employees at its fiberglass plant in Lexington by the end of June 2009, according to a statement from the company. PPG is a global supplier of paints, coatings, chemicals, optical products, speciality materials, glass and fiberglass. The company announced on 24 April 2009 that it would close down part of its operations at the Lexington plant, resulting in the layoff of the 110 employees of the currently employed 420. The company gave unfavourable conditions in the global economy as a reason for the layoffs.
