CSR, the building products group, has given a multi-government group more time to find a buyer for its Viridian automotive glass business at North Geelong. As reported by Frank Vari, Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union assistant state secretary, it is understood that four to six companies have expressed an interest to take over the business as a going concern, saving 115 jobs, including 80 in Geelong. My understanding is they have given us a period of grace to try and find a buyer, he said. Potential bidders are still out there. We“re working feverishly to find them. Viridian is the last automotive glass manufacturer in Australia and has Toyota as one of its major customers.
