Austrian family-run cut crystalware and jewellery manufacturer Swarovski said on 25 March 2009 it will lay off a further 600 people at its headquarters at Wattens, Tyrol, by the end of 2009. In 2010 the company plans to reduce its staff by another 500. “We did not expect such declines and we need to act timely, so that no more jobs will be threatened”, company spokesman Markus Langes-Swarovski said.
