In December 2008, Ukrainian soda ash production fell by 15.7% or 14,000 tons as against December 2007 to 75,000 tons (100%, potash free) according to figures from the Cherkasy State Scientific Research Institute of Technical and Economic Information for the Chemical Industry. In December 2008, OJSC Crimean Soda Plant reduced soda ash output by 3.8% to 63,000 tons, and OJSC Lysychanska Soda decreased soda ash production by 48.9% to 12,000 tons. In 2008, soda ash production rose by 4.3% or 40,000 tons, compared to 2007, to 977,800 tons. In 2007, soda ash output rose by 6.9% or 60,500 tons, compared to 2006, to 936,800 tons.
