An auto glass repair major is expected to acquire Pennsylvania-based Cindy Rowe Auto Glass by the end of December 2008. Belron US of Columbus, Ohio, signed a letter of intent to purchase most of the assets of the Cindy Rowe business in August. Jenny Cain, communications director for Belron, said the companies are conducting their due diligence and the deal is expected to close by the end of December 2008. Belron“s holdings include Elite Auto Glass and Auto Glass Specialists Inc., which it purchased in 2005, and Safelite Group Inc., which was acquired in 2007. In 2008, Belron US bought Diamond Glass Inc., a nationwide chain based in Kingston that had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Cindy Rowe Auto Glass, based in Swatara Township, Pennsylvania, has 12 locations in south-central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. It offers auto glass repairs and replacement, as well as paintless dent repair services. According to the company“s Web site, Ms. Rowe founded the business in 1980. She acquired an existing Harrisburg auto glass repair business in 1987 to help expand her operations and services. Belron US is part of Belron SA, the world“s largest vehicle glass repair and replacement company. Belron said it has operations in 28 countries over four continents.
