The sudden downturn in the automotive and construction industries has given AGC Flat Glass Europe the opportunity to bring forward the planned repair of one of its thee float glass furnaces in Teplice (Czech Republic). The furnace will be shut down at the beginning of December 2008 after 12 years of uninterrupted production. It will be fully rebuilt, incorporating new technologies for energy efficiency and environmental performance. Continuous service to customers will be guaranteed by the other 17 float glass productions lines in Europe. AGC Flat Glass Europe produces and processes flat glass for the construction industry (exterior glazing and interior decorative glass), for the transport sector and for specialised industries. Based in Brussels, Belgium, it is the European branch of AGC Flat Glass. Its production facilities comprise 20 plants (18 float lines) and around 100 processing units are located throughout Europe, from Spain to Russia.
