A Pennsylvania corporation under investigation for how it spent government grant money on a former glass plant in the west of the state has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The Greater Ford City Community Development Corp. was formed eight years ago in the town about 30 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. Its goal was to redevelop the former PPG Industries plant that once was Ford City“s main employer, but the agency is now USD 2.4 million in debt. The building“s exterior has been renovated, but lawyer Chuck Pascal says its interior infrastructure is almost nonexistent. Mr. Pascal says federal agents have subpoenaed the records and officials for an investigation that “has to do with the spending of grant money”.
