In August 2007, the production of soda ash rose by 30.9% or by 18,900 tons compared to August 2006 to 80,100 tons (100%, potash free) according to figures from the Cherkasy state scientific research institute. The August output of soda ash rose at OJSC Crimean Soda Plant by 15.9% to 62,000 tons, while OJSC Lysychanska Soda increased its output by 135.1% to 18,100 tons. In January – August 2007, production of soda ash increased by 8% or 44,500 tons on the comparable period 2006 to 603,500 tons. In July 2007, production of soda ash rose by 240.9% or 53,000 tons compared to July 2006 to 75,000 tons (100%, potash free). In 2006, production of soda ash fell by 1% compared to 2005, to 928,300 tons.
