The Spanish association representing people affected by asbestos has lodged a claim on behalf of 48 people who were not employees of Spanish fiberglass and construction materials company Uralita but who are suffering from respiratory illnesses. It is claimed that they were exposed to asbestos fibers allegedly emitted by the company over a period of 80 years. Courts have ruled in favor of three claims brought by employees who were exposed to asbestos, one of whom died of the disease contracted as a result.
