In April 2007, production of soda ash in the Ukraine fell by 10.8% or by 9,400 tons compared to April 2006, to 77,600 tons (100%, potash free), according to figures from the Cherkasy state scientific research institute. Output of soda ash in April 2007 fell at OJSC Crimean Soda Plant by 7.1% to 59,000 tons, and at OJSC Lysychanska Soda by 20.9% to 18,600 tons. In the January-April 2007 period, production of soda ash decreased by 9% or 28,500 tons year-on-year to 286,600 tons. In March 2007, production of soda ash was down 16.8% or by 14,400 tons year-on-year to 71,500 tons (100%, potash free). In 2006, production of soda ash was down 1% on 2005, to 928,300 tons.
