Delegates arriving for the 2006 British Glass Annual Health & Safety conference will “arrive” at the aftermath of an accident. They will then be taken through the events that occur after an accident takes place. The accident and resulting investigation are based on real events and will give all involved an invaluable insight into the entire sequence of events that follow an accident. The 2006 conference “Accident Investigation”, to be held at the Moat House Hotel in Stoke-on-Trent on Wednesday, 1 November 2006, will be more exciting than ever, according to the organizers. “We have chosen topics that will be relevant to all members of the glass industry. The theme of this year“s conference is “Accident Investigation” and will include interaction with delegates, a courtroom drama and multimedia; this is a conference that can“t be missed,” said Declan Moore, UK Health & Safety Manager at British Glass. In the main hall, during the morning, there will be presentations by Health & Safety Professionals, HSE Inspectors, Barristers, a Crown Court Judge, and the prestigious Charter Awards. Mr. Moore says: “The afternoon session will take the form of a court proceeding and will be acted out in true court fashion. Delegate voting will influence the outcome of the court proceedings. This will give a thorough insight into all aspects of an accident investigation up to and including the final court case and will include the legal viewpoint of an accident investigation”. A second arena, the HR Forum, will focus on the Human Resources side of accident recovery and will cover such topics as “When to Counsel“, “Absence Management“, “Return to Work“, the “Disciplinary Process“ in an accident scenario, ending with the specific case going to tribunal. The tribunal will deal with the interviewing, preparation and all aspects of the tribunal process. Other ingredients of the conference include a full exhibition of safety products, each supplier selected for their contributions to and innovative products for the Glass Industry. A comprehensive delegate pack will contain full information from the day in a toolkit package and gift as well as full details of the speakers, presentations and Charter Awards. Guests will enjoy a full lunchtime meal as well as refreshments throughout the day. “All this makes this year“s conference an exciting and truly unique opportunity for Health & Safety, Personnel and other staff to learn invaluable information whilst enjoying a productive day away from the workplace,” concluded Mr. Moore.
