The UK“s Dartington Crystal took its number of retail outlets to eleven with the opening of a new sales point in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, after securing an investment package partly funded by Finance South West. The latest move follows a GBP 1.5 million management buy-out in early May 2006 which secured the future of one of the UK“s most famous crystalware manufacturers. Dartington Crystal, founded in 1967, is based in Torrington, south-west England, and employs more than 170 people at two main sites at Torrington and at Dudley, in the West Midlands, where the Royal Brierley Crystal brand is based. John Morris, managing director, said: “Following the management buy out, we have been able to start to deliver plans that will move the business forward. One key area is the widening our product distribution. “Besides the mainstream department stores and high street outlets that sell Dartington products, we have 10 of our own outlet stores across the UK”.
