Cristalerias de Chile, a glassmaking, wine and media conglomerate, said on 14 March 2005 that its 4Q net profit rose 158%, to USD 19.1 million from USD 7.4 million in 4Q 2003, due to exchange rate gains and improved profits in its media business. The company“s operating income, or results before interest, taxes, non-cash financial items and one-time items, increased 10.9% over the quarter, to USD 21.7 million. Revenue rose 4.2% to USD 89.3 million in the quarter, while earnings per American depositary receipt were USD 0.89. Sales in the company“s Santa Rita wine business were up 2.3% while glass container sales fell 0.4 %.
