Glass tableware major Libbey Inc. announced 10 January 2005 that it has bought 95% of Marinha Grande, Portugal-based Crisal-Cristalaria Automatica S.A. from Vista Alegre Atlantis SGPS SA for about EUR 28 million (USD 36.7 million). Libbey said the acquisition will add USD 0.02 to USD 0.04 a share to earnings and USD 33 million to USD 35 million in sales in the first full year of operation. Crisal manufactures and markets pressed and blown tumblers, stemware and glassware accessories, and makes most of its sales in Portugal and Spain.
