Japan“s Nikon Corp said it has decided to take full control of its 44.48% owned affiliate, optical glass maker Hikari Glass, on 1 December 2004. Nikon said the move was to improve the efficiency of its optical equipment business. The company said it will offer 2.32 shares for each Hikari Glass share, resulting in an issue of 275,616 new shares, or just 0.07% of the outstanding issued shares. Hikari Glass posted a net profit of JPY 133 million on revenue of JPY 4.8 billion in the year to February 2004. Nikon said the full consolidation of Hikari Glass will have negligible impact on its year to March 2005 profit forecast.
