Romanian glass maker Stirom posted net profit for the 1H 2004 up to EUR 2.3 million (USD 2.8 million ), a rise of 64% year-on-year, it was reported on 30 August 2004. Stirom“s total revenue grew by 38% to EUR 16.8 million while total expenses increased by 30.7% to EUR 13.6 million. The company declined to comment on the results. Stirom turnover reached EUR 14.5 million for the 1H 2004, up 23% year-on-year. The firm was set up in 1966, with Greek glass-making group Yioula Glassworks acquiring 50.9% in Stirom in 2003. The group operates in Greece, Bulgaria and Romania, producing glass containers and tableware.
