The Czech anti-monopoly office (UOHS) has granted an exemption from the ban on public support of up to Kc 398.4 million to Pittsburgh Corning which intends to invest Kc 791 million in the Czech Republic and create 175 new jobs over three years, UOHS chairman Josef Bednar said. Pittsburg Corning Ceska Republika is a subsidiary of Pittsburg Corning Europe N.V. The company, which was established by US firms PPG Industries Inc. and Corning Inc. in 1965, produces foam glass and insulation for construction and industrial sectors.
