Japanese glass giant Asahi Glass has announced plans to reorganize its domestic flat glass sales operations by closing six sales branch offices on 1 April 2001. The six branch offices to be closed are located in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Sapporo, and Sendai. Asahi said that, under the planned reorganization, it will centre domestic sales operations at its Tokyo headquarters. Through the closures and corresponding cuts in staffing, Asahi Glass hopes to reduce operational costs by around JPY 500 million.
