Taiwan Glass Company has said it is optimistic that revenue will grow by as much as 70% in 2003 if its flat glass and fibreglass plant in mainland China enter formal production. Lin Po-shih, the company“s managing director, said that the firm“s board had approved the investment of US$ 20 million in a third flat glass production line in mainland China. The firm will also invest US$ 18 million to set up its first glass fibre cloth plant in Kunshan in China“s Jiangsu province. Taiwan Glass also expects its four new glass fibre furnaces in Lukang in central Taiwan to start up in the fourth quarter of 2001 and start production in January 2002. With a total output of 20,000 metric tons, the new fibreglass furnaces will generate estimated revenue of about T$ 2.5 billion a year.
