During a press conference at Glasstec 2000, Vitrum trade fair organizers Michele Gusti, Dino Fenzi and Annibale Besana, declared that the fair has experienced a continuous increase in both exhibitor and visitor numbers in recent years. Vitrum, held every other year at the Portello fair grounds in Milan (Italy), reached its peak in 1999 with a total of 385 exhibitors and 16,702 visitors from 89 different countries all over the world. Given this growth, Vitrum 2001 will take up the most space ever, adding over 5,000 square metres to the 22,000 it had in 1999. The added space is located on the upper floor of pavilion 16, which will maintain the compactness of Vitrum while ensuring stands“ maximum visibility and keeping the fair convenient to visit. The new hall, despite being on an upper level, is accessible to vehicles and lifting equipment for loading and unloading, thanks to wide ramps at the Portello fair grounds. The biggest change, however, will affect the 2003 edition of the fair, when it will move from the first week in October to the last week in June. Vitrum organizers have chosen the new period so as not to interfere with other autumn international fairs and to attract customers who otherwise would be too busy to attend. The next edition of Vitrum will take place Wednesday 3 October through Saturday 6 October 2001. Exhibitors“ hours are from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; visitors“ hours run from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Set-up is scheduled to begin on Thursday 27 September and will continue through Tuesday 2 October at 6 p.m. (Sunday included). Dismantling is scheduled for Saturday 6 October 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday 7 October through Tuesday 9 October from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Exhibitors may sign up beginning 1st January 2001 by contacting the Vitrum office: Via Petitti 16 20149 Milano Tel: +(39) 02 33006099 Fax: +(39) 02 33005630
