Finnish designer, manufacturer and marketer of machinery for glass tempering and laminating, Tamglass announced 25 October 2000 that it had signed a contract at the 2000 edition of Glasstec with Splintex Czech for the sale and delivery of a windscreen bending furnace number 235, type ESU EcoMax(TM). Splintex is an automotive glass producer for European OEM and ARG manufacturers based in Teplice, the Czech Republic, and belongs to the Glaverbel Group, the third biggest producer of automotive glass in Europe. According to a press release, the firm decided to invest in the Tamglass furnace in order to supply the ARG market in the Czech Republic. Managing Director Pavel Sambora and Engineering Specialist Petr Knorr represented Splintex at the announcement. 27 October 2000 Tamglass announced that it had signed another contract, this time with Belgium firms Martens Glas, Euroglas de Landtsheer, Group Leroi and Belgian Glass Processing, all members of DAB, a group specializing in edgework, sandblasting, glass doors, fitting systems, insulating glass and the bending of glass and profiles. The contract foresees the delivery of flat glass tempering line number 875, type HTF ProE(TM). Representing the joint venture were General Manager Guy Martens of Martens Glas, General Manager Geerd de Landtsheer of Euroglass, General Manager Yves Leroi of Leroi Industries and Production Manager Eric Wecks of Belgian Glass Processing. Tamglass was represented at both announcements by Sales Director Seppo Lautamki and Architectural Glass Director Mauri Leponen. In addition to its presence in Finland, Tamglass says it has production plants in the US, Brazil and Switzerland and sales and service companies in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. In these areas demand for safety glass production lines picked up in the first quarter of 2000; Tamglass says its net sales for the first two quarters grew by more than 35% over the corresponding period in 1999 and the company“s net sales for the entire year are expected to grow by more than one-fifth. Tamglass employs 400 people and has supplied nearly 1,300 safety glass production lines in more than 70 countries.
